The Abolition of Man by C.S. Lewis is one of his most important works, offering a timeless warning about the loss of objective truth in our culture. Written during the turmoil of World War II, Lewis speaks with clarity about the dangers of reducing morality to personal opinion and treating truth as something relative. He argues that when societies reject God-given standards of right and wrong, they begin to erode the very foundation of humanity itself—what he calls the “abolition of man.” Though brief, this book challenges us to examine the way we think, educate, and live, and it calls us back to a vision of virtue rooted in something higher than ourselves. For Christians, it offers both a defense of faith and a reminder that our hope and moral compass must remain anchored in the eternal truths of God’s Word.
