Why should I want to know God?
Sin has separated us from Him and without Him we are left on our own to die and then to give an account of everything we have ever done wrong. The Ten Commandments, found in Exodus 20, is a list of things that God requires of everyone and if we break one of them then we are guilty of breaking them all (James 2:10).
Have you ever sinned?
The bible says that all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God (Romans 3:23). Sin is an old english word which means to miss the mark. Have you ever told a lie? What does that make you? What about taking something that belonged to someone else? Have you ever stolen something? Have you ever hated anyone in your life? Then according to Jesus that is the same as committing murder (Matt 5:22 ;1 John 3:15). Thou shall not commit adultery but did you know that if you look at a woman with lust you are guilty of the same sin (Matt 5:28)? That’s just a few laws and to break them makes you a lying, thieving, murderous, adulterer.
Doesn’t my good out weigh my bad?
God is a righteous judge. If someone had brutally murdered a friend or family member of yours and was caught and brought before a judge and said, ‘judge I have done a lot of good things to help hundreds of people and I have only murdered one person.’ What is a righteous judge going to do? If he lets the man go he is a bad judge right? So it will be with you on judgment day.
Is there a way to escape the judgment of God?
There is a way and only one way to escape the judgment of God. God sent His Son to take our place on that tree two thousand years ago in which the wrath of God was poured out and the payment was made. The perfect blood of Jesus Christ can blot out the handwriting of ordinances that are against you holding you guilty by nailing them to the cross (Col 2:14). Jesus said, “I am the way, the truth, and the life, no man comes to the Father but by me.” (John 14:6)
