Bread for us

Ever thought of trials as something actually good for you? Just like eating vegetables are good for you physically what if going straight on into the most fearful and difficult situations are also good for you? Sounds crazy but its not. Caleb and Joshua were the only two spies of the twelve that gave a good report about the Promise Land that God had given to them. While everyone else was fearful and even wanting to run back to Egypt it was those two that stood up and said that these giants “…are bread for us…” they will make us stronger!

Trials, which can also be called tests, are sent from God to make our faith stronger. A friend of my who is a missionary in Africa tells about a health drink they have there that is called Milo. It was named after a weak boy named Milo who carried a calf on his shoulders around the farm all day I order to get stronger. As Milo got older he continued to carry the calf daily until that calf become a full grown cow. Milo’s strength increased as he continued to carry that calf even after it had become a cow!

God wants our faith to grow as well as our diet. Hebrews chapter 5 talks about those who drink milk are unskillful in the Word of God and if we are to grow and become stronger we need to eat solid food. As we grow stronger we are able to take on greater trials, more difficult tests, which both strengthen us and bless our Lord. May your spiritual diet for God’s Word grow and as it does watch how much stronger you will become.
